The government has indicated clearly that affordable housing will be a priority for the comprehensive spending review. However it is equally clear that the current fiscal environment will place limits on the ability of government to increase resources for affordable housing. A key challenge is therefore to look at how available public funds can deliver the maximum provision of high-quality affordable housing. Fundamentally, we need to achieve more homes per each public pound spent.
